California Emergency Management Agency (Cal EMA)

What role do Civil Engineers perform after natural disasters? This month's guest speaker, Jim C. Barnes, P.E., will share his experiences working with the California Emergency Management Agency (Cal EMA), which deploys trained personnel to respond to and aid in the recovery from emergencies within the State of California.  In his current role as a Safety Assessment Program instructor, Mr. Barnes has prepared professional engineers and architects and certified building inspectors to assist local governments in safety evaluation of their built environment in an aftermath of a disaster.

At the conclusion of the presentation, luncheon guests will be surveyed on their interest in completing Cal EMA training at a future date.
